Commonly Known: Laerdya Siannodel is a high-ranking wizard of wide renown who lives and works in the Feytower. Though few members of the public would know the reclusive woman by sight, her name is instantly recognizable to almost anyone: Laerdya cured the sea-pox which swept through the city several years back and was so virulent among the elderly, and she created the vaccine for the skin lesions which sailors brought home from the north and spread through the bars and brothels a few years before that.
Her name is synonymous in the city with curative research, and with charitable giving: though the city pays all her living expenses and research costs, and grants a sizable stipend for her own personal use, she does not profit from the cures she creates and indeed she insists that they be distributed freely for the public good. There is hardly a family in Brilight who has not benefited from one of the cures or vaccines she has had a hand in. Now that Brilight is threatened with a new plague, rumors abound that Siannodel is the best--and perhaps last--hope for a cure.
